New Tomorrow, Inc. began as a simple idea 45 years ago: to make seed-growing kits that enable anyone to sprout plants in their homes. Magic® Garden's founder, George Sawyer, had a niece who needed to grow plants for school; however, none of the 40 packets of seeds she bought would sprout. He developed a product simple enough for first-graders to use that virtually guaranteed growth. Voila! The Magic Garden® was born.

The Magic Garden® is a hydroponic kit, meaning that soil is not needed. Instead, plants are fed with special nutrients solely by water. Now, with a brand-new automatic watering system, growing plants is easier than ever! Originally, the kits could grow marigolds, tomatoes, morning glories, and many other plants. Now, the most beautiful and popular plants are being brought back. One outgrowth of this is the Nut Bush™, allowing people to grow their own peanut plants without soil...

Mr. Sawyer found that many people tire of waiting for days to see seeds begin to form leaves and roots. In response, he invented the Magic® Tree, which starts forming delicate crystalline "leaves" in 30 minutes.
